The Force of Faith
First let’s consider just how important faith really is. The Scripture says, “The Just shall live by faith.” I like to turn that around and say, “By faith the Just shall live”. We know that the Just means those that are in right standing with God.
The Bible says the believer has been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. We have right standing because we are in Christ Jesus. Righteousness is a gift that comes with salvation. Romans 5:17 says, “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” If we are supposed to live by something, we should know what it is and how it works.
How do we get faith? I am not talking about confidence, I’m talking about the God kind of faith, or we could say the faith of God. God’s Word is impregnated with His faith, so when you get the Word, faith comes. There is no faith without the Word. Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” This verse tells us how we get faith. It’s by hearing the Word. What do you do then if you want your faith to be increased? The faith of God and the Word of God go together like wet with water. You can’t order a glass of water and ask the waiter to hold the wet. Wet is a characteristic of water, and when you get the water you get the wet.
When you hear the Word of God, faith comes. Let’s look at Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Let’s substitute the word “Word” in the place of the word “faith” and you will see it will not change the meaning of the verse. “Now the Word is the substance of things hoped for, the Word is the evidence of things not seen.” I think you will agree it does not change the meaning of the verse.
John 1:3 tells us that everything made was made by the Word. Hebrews 1:3 says all things are upheld by the Word. In other words, the Word created everything and the Word sustains everything that the Word brought into existence. This should impress upon us even more how important words are. Is it any wonder God wants us to speak His Word?
When we hear the Word, faith comes. When we release that faith by the words of our mouth or by our actions, there is a power, a force released to bring to us what the Word has promised. It’s very much like the electro magnetic field of a magnet. With a magnet there is an unseen force that will either attract or push away another magnet or like material. If there is proper alignment, it will pull other materials to itself. That’s like the force of faith. When we have an image properly developed in the inner man and that image has been created by hearing and meditating the Word of God, it will attract the blessings of the covenant and cause them to come on us and overtake us.
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 & 8 If we will hearken diligently to the voice of the Lord God, to observe and to do all His commandments, all the blessings shall come on us and overtake us. V8 The Lord shall command the blessing upon us.
The faith of God in the inner man is like a magnet, it will draw the blessings to you.
2 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect (made ready) toward him.
Make yourself ready today for the blessings of the covenant to come upon you and overtake you! God’s power has already been released in His Word to bring all the blessings upon those that will develop their faith and make themselves ready. Your faith will attract and pull the provisions of the covenant into your life and you will be blessed and be a blessing.
Jesus Is Lord!
