Talk the Blessings & Not the Curses!
Your words are forming your future. What you are saying sets the course of your life, either in the direction of life (Zoe) or death (separation from the God kind of life).
James 3:1-12
In verse eight James says no man can tame (control) the tongue. In this verse it sounds like we have no choice when it comes to our words. But Jesus said that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. If we then put the Word of God in our inner man in abundance we will speak in line with the Word of God. When we are speaking the Word, we are speaking life.
Proverbs 18:20-21 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Matthew 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Some say you just have to say it like it is; but that’s not what God does. Romans 4:17 says God calls those things which be not as though they were. In other words, God calls things the way He wants them to be, and not how they are now. Our faith works in the same way God’s faith works. In fact, when we operate in faith it is the faith of God.
1 Corinthians 1:28 Says God has chosen the things which are not, to bring to nought things that are.
We must always speak the Word!
Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (soteria).
The word salvation or soteria, means deliverance from temporal evils or from the problems of this life. Notice what it says now, “with your mouth you make confessions that will deliver you from the problems of this life.” I am not that problems will not try to come. I’m saying you can stop them before they control you. I believe Paul reveals this in Ephesians 6:16 “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
I believe your shield of faith is the sum total of your confessions of the Word. I believe your confessions of faith can stop any attack of the enemy. Don’t wait until problems come, speak the Word now and have your shield in place before the attack.
Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Testimony as mentioned above is not our experiences, but rather the testimony of the Word of God. Our testimony is whatever God’s Word says.
Proverbs 15:30 “A good report maketh the bones fat.” (A good report gives health to your bones.) What is our report? Our report is whatever God’s Word says about the situation, and that is what we speak.
